Mysteries of Love

Love. It is a simple word yet with it comes unlimited mysteries, complications and confusion. What a strange relationship if you ask me.

The past few weeks, months and years have been highly educational. Paying attention to the world and people around me has been eye opening. Paying attention to "the stories" and "situations" around me has brought more revelations.

Call it what you may, but people have different views about Love. Some say Love deceives. It confuses. It heals and it hurts. It can make you lose your mind. It should come with a warning label. Carolyn Hax, a Post advice columnist, suggests: “Don’t operate heavy machinery when you’re under the influence of this stuff.”

Yet people are still trying to explain love, to measure it, calibrate, capture it with advanced medical imaging. The science of love is in the air. Scientists are homing in on the neurochemistry of love. The love experts talk about dopamine and oxytocin and vasopressin and opioids. They study brain scans of people in various throes and permutations of love, and say things such as (we got this the other day from Helen Fisher, a pioneer in the field, and a professor at Rutgers): “We found activity in a tiny little part of the brain called the ventral tegmental area.”

Yet when you’re in love, it doesn’t feel like the ventral tegmental area is the cause.
It seems like, for example, that the eyes are more important. The hands. And other parts.

Love is not a feeling. Love is accepting another person and their flaws. Love is a decision that one makes. Love is choosing to love and accept the other people as they are.
Everyone has the power to hurt or betray another. It's up to us to chose who we want to be betrayed by... And the ability to accept is an act of Love..

For a reason, a season or a Lifetime

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do.

When someone or something is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty; to provide you with guidance and support; to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it. It is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

There is a purpose for every person we meet in life. Some are here to test us, some are here to teach us, some will use us. But the most important are the ones who bring out the best in us. They respect us, and accept us for who we are. These are the ones worth keeping around.

Some people come into our live and quickly go and we wonder why.

While others become our friends and stay a while leaving beautiful footprints on our hearts and we're never quiet the same because we have known them. Everything happens for a reason.

To everything, there is  season and a time to every purpose under the heavens. Ecclesiastes 3:1

Just think, you are not here by chance, but by God's choosing. His hand formed you and made you the person you are. He compares you to no one else. You are of a kind. You lack nothing that his grace cannot give you. He has allowed you to be here at this time in history to fulfil his special purpose for this generation.
